MAZ - the Swiss School of Journalism - is THE leading Swiss competence center for journalism and communication. We don't do everything. But what we do, we do well.
We have ONE topic, ONE passion: the promotion of journalistic quality and the associated excellent communication and presentation skills.
We are anchored in the media industry, our sponsors are the Swiss publishers, SRG ssr, the professional associations, the Swiss Conference of Editors-in-Chief and the city and canton of Lucerne. This guarantees a high level of practical relevance.
We are networked with Universities in Switzerland and abroad. Our cooperation partners ensure that our courses are based on the latest scientific findings and, in addition to the recognized MAZ diploma, enable further qualifications.
We monitor international media developments. This forms the basis for intensive debates on job profiles and the development of pioneering offers for media professionals and communication experts.
We strive for the greatest possible gain in knowledge and therefore work in small, interdisciplinary groups. Here, it is not professors lecturing to students, but professionals working with professionals.
People who have something to say meet here. Because we require a lot of knowledge. The students are graduates from Universities, career changers,
Beginners and experienced journalists, editors-in-chief, trainees and communications managers, filmmakers, radio presenters, press photographers and picture editors. Most of them have already made it into the industry - they have completed a traineeship or have a job and have therefore passed the first selection stage. The second is the demanding admission procedure for the MAZ.
Our courses last as long as necessary, but are also as short and compact as possible. Sometimes one day is enough, sometimes you need a Master's degree. The courses are modular and aligned with the Bologna system.
