Good photography is only partly about the eye. Although good eyesight is undoubtedly an important element in a photographer's toolbox, it only forms the basis. Much more important is talent and the inner urge to create meaningful images. Every exceptional photograph has a soul whose existence can only be explained by its creator.
At cap, there are no snapshots or random shots. Outstanding images are not only created by pressing the shutter release in time, but also in the mind. Because a fascinating shot is ultimately always based on a corresponding idea.
The photography school for people with bite and talent
The cap fotoschule is aimed at demanding amateurs and aspiring photographers who want to deepen their existing knowledge and expand their range of experience. The school was founded in 2000 and our aim is to offer practice-oriented and efficient training for career changers.
Professional knowledge and skills are taught at three different levels. The aim of the courses is to promote creative potential and impart the technical and theoretical knowledge required to produce high-quality images. The entire spectrum of professional photography is taught, from portrait and people photography, architecture and landscape to still-life and conceptual photography.
We have three fully equipped studios in Zurich, Bern and Biel. The students work with professional equipment, supported and accompanied in their personal process by the experienced cap-fotoschule teachers.

Our offer
We offer a total of three training courses.
- "cap home" - basic training in photography with certificate. (Blended Learning)
With cap home, we offer a high-quality distance learning program. It includes eight monthly lessons that can be completed from the comfort of your own home. An interactive learning room on the Internet enables exchange with teachers and participants. On a total of eight workshop days, which take place in our professionally equipped studios and on location, we offer practical lessons on the individual modules. Cap home is aimed at ambitious amateur photographers with high expectations of their photographic work.
This annual course with 8 modules and 8 one-day workshops comprises a total of 296 lessons (240 self-study and 56 accompanied).
- "cap professional": Diploma course
The basics of applied photography are developed over the course of a year, on a total of 49 study days. In five one-week basic modules and a three-day excursion, you will learn the entire spectrum of professional photography and be introduced to moving images. You will create your own stories in several training sessions and receive intensive support throughout the process. Seminars will complement your knowledge and skills.
We will show you how to successfully use your image stories for corporate communication on social media channels. You will be introduced to working with artificial intelligence and will delve deeper into digital image editing. This course focuses on practical experience.
You will learn from experienced professional photographers, filmmakers and social media experts, implement your own projects and receive intensive support from your coaches. A personal, professional portfolio will be created, printed and presented as a final project at the end of the course.
This annual course with 49 study daysincludes a total of 550 lessons (350 accompanied and 200 self-study).
- cap premium - continuing education, further training for photographers
In the cap-premium advanced training course, you will sharpen your profile in order to survive in a highly competitive market. You will specialize in two areas of your choice and develop a personal project. 1:1 coaching plays an important role in this. You will also expand your basic skills, particularly in the areas of storytelling, business and post-production.
This annual course includes 200 lessons, 100 of which are self-study.
The cap fotoschule teaches in very small classes of 8-10 participants. This makes it possible to provide real support for the students. This is the focus at cap.
