* or, of course, the ceremony leader! For the sake of simplicity, we only use one form in each case, but of course we always mean people of all genders.

We offer you the opportunity to do just that! Our two courses, “Training to Become a Wedding Officiant” (weddings) and “Training to Become a Funeral Officiant” (farewell ceremonies), provide you with a concise and thorough introduction to the profession of independent ceremony officiants. You can combine the two courses or supplement them individually with additional specializations so that you can professionally offer and lead various types of ceremonies.

Both courses consist of individual modules led by experienced specialists. Although we also use webinars and online courses in some cases, personal and physical contact is key for us. With a few exceptions, all modules therefore take place as face-to-face lessons - in a very pleasant atmosphere and in a trusting setting that enables deep immersion in the subject matter.

After successful completion, you can join our professional network free of charge for at least one year. This will give you an easier start to your new career!

Training to become a certified wedding officiant (weddings)

With this course, we offer you a concise yet thorough introduction to the profession of independent wedding officiants. The course consists of eight in-person days covering five thematic modules. For each module, you’ll receive comprehensive written materials as well as assignments for preparation and follow-up. The in-person sessions are led by active, experienced, and well-connected wedding officiants who will also share their wealth of experience with you.

Same course, different duration of training

• "Training to Become a Wedding Officiant":
  This course is designed to last 6–7 months (October through April). This format allows you to reflect on the material at your own pace and prepare for your new role. ​​
• "Training to Become a Funeral Director – A Compact Course"
  The course is structured over a 4-month period (January through April). There is an average of 3 weeks between each module. This format is ideal for anyone who prefers a faster pace of learning.

Certificate and Outlook

You’ll complete the training with a certificate. It’s both possible and advisable to start building your career as a wedding officiant while you’re still in the training program. With your certificate and your first completed assignments, you’ll have the opportunity to join Traumich—a professional network of independent wedding officiants in German-speaking Switzerland.

Training to become a certified funeral speaker (farewell ceremonies)

Would you like to accompany people with dignity as they say goodbye to a loved one and organize a fitting funeral service for them? Would you like to give concrete form to your desire for depth and a contemporary form of self-employment? By training as a professional, freelance funeral speaker, we will support you with our experience and help you make a successful start to this responsible and valuable activity.

The “Training to Become a Funeral Speaker” course offers you a thorough introduction to the profession of conducting independent, non-denominational farewell ceremonies. You can customize the training to include additional areas of focus.

The course consists of twelve days of in-person instruction led by experienced professionals. In addition to the thematic modules, the course includes a self-awareness seminar and regular intervision sessions in small groups. For each module, you’ll receive comprehensive written materials as well as assignments for preparation and follow-up. The program also includes a supervision credit that can be redeemed after successful completion and upon starting your new position.

• "Training to Become a Funeral Speaker"
  This course is structured over a period of 9 months (September through May). The individual modules are spaced approximately 6–8 weeks apart. This schedule allows participants to reflect on and assimilate the material at their own pace.
• "Training to Become a Funeral Speaker – A Compact Course"
  The course is structured over a 4-month period (February through May). There is an average of 3 weeks between each module. This format is ideal for anyone who prefers a faster pace of learning.

​Certificate and Outlook

The training program concludes with a certificate. It is possible to build up and begin your career as a funeral speaker while completing the training. With your certificate and your first completed assignments, you’ll have the opportunity to join Amanos—a professional network of independent funeral speakers in German-speaking Switzerland. ​​
