What is a master painter?
After completing their basic training, a master painter AFPE has completed continuing education, further training and now runs their own painting business or takes on a management position in a larger company in the construction or design sector.
How do you become a master painter?
After successfully completing your apprenticeship and gaining at least three years of professional experience as a Federal VET Diploma painter, you can complete two years of continuing education, further training in preparation for the Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE). You can then take the federal examination and, if you pass, you can call yourself a Federal Diploma Master Painter AFPE.
How long does it take to become a master painter?
To train as a master painter with Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE), you must have 5 years of professional experience when you take the exam. The preparatory courses last two years, i.e. as soon as you have worked as a painter for three years after your apprenticeship, you are ready for continuing education, further training as a painter. The duration may vary depending on the provider, so it is worth checking this directly with the schools in advance.
