Bildung Retailhandel Schweiz (BDS) is helping to shape the future of Swiss retail through sustainable, innovative and future-oriented vocational training

Target groups

• We inspire young people for attractive, future-oriented careers in retail and support them on their way to becoming sought-after specialists and managers.
• We lay the foundations for sustainable continuing education, further training in retail and ensure its quality.

Our members are employer organizations involved in basic and continuing education, further training or employers in the retail trade.

Focus & activities

As an organization of the working world (OdA), BDS is committed to:

• the promotion and safeguarding of young professionals in the retail trade;
• continuing education, further training in the retail trade;
• ensuring quality standards in basic and continuing education, further training;
• access to high-quality, modern and practice-oriented learning media;
• publicizing the professions in the retail trade;
• representing interests vis-à-vis the federal and cantonal vocational training authorities.

Training & continuing education, further training

BDS is the nationally responsible organization in the world of work for two vocational education and training courses (Retail Assistant Federal VET Diploma and Retail Specialist Federal VET Diploma). These apprenticeships are among the most popular basic training courses. We are also responsible for three higher vocational training courses (retail trade specialist:in FPE, e-commerce specialist:in FPE and retail trade manager:in AFPE). BDS thus covers all nationally recognized basic and continuing education, further training in the retail trade.
