The CAS Operations Management comprises a total of 14 attendance days. It is credited with 12 ECTS. However, in addition to the attendance events (Fridays and Saturdays), sufficient time must also be allowed for self-study.

In a CAS Operations Management at a University of Applied Sciences, students often deal with the following topics (the names vary from school to school):

• Fundamentals of operations management (including tasks, objectives and strategies of production and service management, lean management, quality, costs, time as target variables)
• Processes and supply chain (including process analysis and design, supply chain management, Kanban)
• Planning & control (including production and capacity planning, material requirements planning, IT systems in operations management)
• Performance & optimization (including KPIs, sustainability in operational processes, digital transformation & Industry 4.0)

Two modules must be attended for the certificate course, firstly the "Fundamentals of Operations Management" and secondly the compulsory elective module "Operations in Industry and Commerce" or "Service Operations".

Employees from industrial companies, trading companies or industry-related service companies who design and manage value creation processes are the target group of the certificate course. They work in logistics, supply chain management and operations management, for example. Employees from customer service, process management and order processing in industrial and service companies who are entrusted with the design and management of service processes are also addressed by this continuing education, further training.

If interested, this certificate course can be extended together with other CAS courses to the MAS Supply Chain & Operations Management; MAS Digital Transformation; MAS Business Informatics or MAS Business Analysis master's degree courses.

Admission to the Operations Management continuing education course is possible with a university degree and three years of professional experience as well as without a university degree. Persons without a university degree must, however, have a qualified continuing education, such as an Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE) or an Advanced Federal Diploma (AFPE) and at least five years of professional experience. The Head of Studies decides on admission on a case-by-case basis.

A CAS (Certificate of Advanced Studies) is a further education qualification from a Universities.
