How long does the continuing education program to become a “Real Estate Trustee (AFPE)” take, and how much does it cost?

Duration and procedure

The preparatory courses for real estate trustees are designed to be taken while working
They have a modular structure and usually last 2–3 semesters.
The courses consist of approximately 400–420 lessons.
Classes are usually held two evenings a week. There are also courses that meet one afternoon and one evening a week.
The Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE) is held annually, provided that a minimum number of candidates meet the admission requirements; otherwise, it is held every two years. The AFPE may be taken in any of the three official languages: German, French, or Italian.

Costs

The fees for the preparatory course range from CHF 14,00 to 15,500.
If you are a member of the Swiss Real Estate Industry Association (SVIT), you’ll benefit from reduced course fees.
The exam fee is set by the relevant exam office, the Swiss Professional Examination Commission (SFPKIW). It is currently CHF 3,200 (as of 2022).
Many providers charge additional fees for training materials, teaching resources, exam preparation, or review courses. We recommend that you contact the provider of your choice directly to find out what additional costs you can expect.
Since 2018, graduates of preparatory courses for the Federal Professional Examination (FPE) and the Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE) have been eligible to receive a refund of up to half of the course fees paid from the federal government upon request, regardless of their results.
