A real estate marketer performs the following tasks:

• Management of a team in the area of real estate marketing
• Preparation of market analyses and real estate marketing concepts, definition of communication measures and property-specific implementation

  • Regular reports on the sales status

One of the following qualifications is required for admission to the Federal Professional Examination in Real Estate Marketing:

• At least 3 years of vocational education and training, high school diploma, federally recognized commercial diploma, degree from a College of Higher Education, Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE), higher professional examination, university or equivalent qualification
• At least 3 years of full-time work experience in a profession in the real estate industry after completing the training

or

• 5 years of full-time professional experience in a profession in the real estate industry, including at least 2 years in Switzerland or the Principality of Liechtenstein

and

• no entries in the criminal record that contradict the purpose of the audit

Real estate marketer training with a professional examination is generally designed as in-service training that allows participants to continue working full-time or at a reduced workload. The courses often take place two evenings a week, either in the afternoon and on Saturdays or on a full day during the week.

The real estate marketer course as preparation for the Federal Professional Examination (FPE) for real estate marketers with a federal certificate imparts a broad range of specialist knowledge from various areas of the real estate industry. The content is practice-oriented and prepares students specifically for the exam.

The central topics include:

• Legal basis: personnel law, family law, property law, limited rights in rem, possession and ownership, land register, Code of Obligations, securing performance and Code of Civil Procedure (ZPO)
• Tax aspects: Swiss tax system, value added tax on real estate, real estate trading from a tax perspective
• Construction knowledge: Fundamentals of construction engineering, environmental law, planning and building law
• Real estate marketing: introduction to marketing, market research, procurement marketing, sales marketing, presentation and communication techniques
• Sale of real estate: sale of real estate with sales process, legal basis for the sale of real estate, financing, valuation of real estate

The real estate marketer course thus covers all the key areas that are important for the job - from legal issues and technical principles to sales strategies and tax conditions.

Continuing education, further training as a real estate marketer currently costs around CHF 10,000 to 12,500. SVIT members receive a discount of around CHF 800, but there are also individual providers with even lower prices. Make a good comparison and also check which services are included.

Building on the federal certificate in real estate marketing, there are various continuing education, further training courses offered by schools in the real estate industry, such as clerk courses, but also seminars and training courses. In addition, it is possible to take an Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE) and obtain a federal diploma, such as a certified fiduciary expert, certified facility management manager or certified real estate trustee. It may also be possible to attend a College of Higher Education or a University of Applied Sciences.
