It is important to note that coaching is not therapy, but a guide to self-help. It is therefore not aimed at mentally ill people, but at healthy and stable people who are confronted with a situation that is too much for them. Crisis coaching is the support of people in difficult life situations. This mainly involves two things, namely immediate measures and prevention. A crisis coach supports his or her client in taking steps that help immediately and thus cushion the current crisis. With a view to sustainability and the long term, work is then carried out on preventive measures to avoid future crises as far as possible or at least to learn a different way of dealing with them.

As a rule, crisis coaching cannot solve the coachee's actual problem. In other words, it cannot conjure away financial problems or reverse a divorce or the loss of a loved one. Crisis coaching supports the client in the stressful situation and shows ways to deal with it better. In this way, people in crisis situations regain the courage and confidence to cope with the current stressful situation as well as possible.

Crisis coaching is very individual and depends on the condition of the coachee. In general, this method can be used to work on balanced emotional and thought management. It is about dealing with fears and breaking through ingrained patterns of behavior and thinking. The crisis coach analyzes the current situation with the coachee, encourages self-reflection and shows ways to act differently in the future.
