What are the admission criteria for the MAS Applied History?
Anyone with a consecutive Master's degree from a Universities and professional experience will be admitted to the MAS Applied History program. Persons who only have a Bachelor's degree and qualifying professional experience or equivalent qualifications may also be admitted in exceptional cases after consultation with the Director of Studies.
What modules does the MAS Applied History consist of?
The MAS Applied History comprises a total of 34 modules, of which 17 modules are compulsory, nine are optional and seven are taught as "schools". For the MAS degree, 17 compulsory modules and either one school or one optional module must be taken. The compulsory modules for the 2017 to 2019 course are Introduction and Theory; Grand Historiography II; Terrorism and Violence; History and Politics III; Megatrends I; Megatrends II, Megatrends III; History and Politics IV; History and Environment; History and Economics I; History and Politics I; History and Religion; History and Media; History and Politics II; History and Economics II; Transatlantic Relations; Grand Historiography I. Optional modules are on World Perspectives East Asia; Middle East; Latin America; Africa; America; as well as History of Ageing; Dictators and Dictatorships; Language of Art; Financial Center CH. In addition, there are de Schools; Summer School Warsaw, Krakow; Prague; Old and New Silk Roads in Central Asia; Museums of the World: The American East Coast I; Museums of the World: London; The Garden Kingdom of Dessau-Wörlitz as a Wonder of the World; Summer School Florence: The Other View; Summer School Tokyo; Summer School Greece.
What costs can be expected for the MAS Applied History?
The complete MAS Applied History at the University of Zurich (UZH) costs CHF 24,600 for the 2017 to 2019 program. For costs for later start dates and individual CAS or modules, please contact UZH directly via the contact form.
What is the target audience for the MAS History?
The MAS Applied History is aimed at a very diverse target group. Students come from a wide range of professional backgrounds, such as banking and insurance; medicine, health and social affairs; media and culture; services and consulting; business and law or education and research. It is aimed at people who want to broaden their personal horizons and for whom strategic and analytical action is a basic prerequisite for success.
How long does the MAS History take?
The MAS in Applied History is part-time and takes two years to complete. The continuing education master's comprises a total of 34 modules, each lasting four days and taking place all day on Fridays and Saturdays. The individual modules are held four to five weeks apart. The schools have a duration of up to 10 days.
