Metal Construction Project Manager (Male/Female) (FPE): Continuing Education, further training, Self-Assessment, Overview of Programs and Providers

The continuing education program to become a Metal Project Manager with a Federal Diploma of Higher Education and a Professional Bachelor’s degree is designed to be completed while working and typically lastsfour semesters.

It can be started immediately after completing vocational education and training (VET) as a metal fabrication designer with a Federal VET Diploma and leads first to the association certificate “Metal Fabrication Team Leader—Design and Assembly,” and then to the Federal Diploma of Higher Education.

Metal Construction Project Managers with a Swiss Federal Certificate acquire extensive technical and interpersonal skills through continuing education, further training, enabling them to act as company representatives in dealings with customers and suppliers, lead a planning team, take charge of planning smaller industrial buildings or facade and metal components, and prepare construction invoices and bills of quantities.

Individuals who wish to take this Federal Professional Examination (FPE) leading to a federal certificate must have completed an apprenticeship asMetal Fabrication Technician (Federal VET Diploma)orMetalworker (with a Federal VET Diploma)or theFederal VET Diploma in a related occupationand at least two years of professional experience in the metal fabrication industry since completing an apprenticeship.

In addition, proof of completion of all required modules and of the vocational instructor training course is required.

The continuing education program “Metal Construction Project Manager” includesbetween 700 and 800 class hours, spread over four semesters and requiresIndividual study time of roughly the same duration.

The specificClass TimesThe schools are making plans. TheClassroom teachingIt often takes place two days a week and, in some cases, in the form of one-week intensive sessions. Those interested should expect 8–12 hours of class per week.

On top of that, there's time forindividualized learningand exam preparation; the amount of time required depends on your individual learning style and prior knowledge; we recommend setting aside 5–8 hours per week for this.
