Admission to training in systems engineering at a College of Higher Education (Systems Technician CHE, formerly Technician CHE Systems Engineering) is granted to anyone who has either completed at least three years of basic technical training, e.g. as an electronics technician Federal VET Diploma, polymechanic Federal VET Diploma, automation technician Federal VET Diploma, design engineer Federal VET Diploma or in a similar field, or has a Baccalaureate and at least one year of professional experience in systems engineering. In addition, you must provide evidence of at least 50 percent employment in a related field during the CHE course. During the systems engineering training to become a systems engineering technician HF (new: systems technician HF), you will receive comprehensive training in a wide range of subjects, in mathematics and statistics as well as in business administration, project management as well as in electrical engineering and electronics. Digital technology, physics, automation, graphical programming and C programming, software engineering, control engineering and materials are also part of the further training to become a systems technician HF, whereby the subjects also depend on the chosen specialization.

You can also train as an information technician at a higher technical college.

The course is known as "System Technician HF".

The HF degree course in Systems Engineering (Systems Technician HF, formerly Technician HF Systems Engineering) is aimed at people with a basic technical education or a school-leaving certificate and professional experience in systems engineering who are able to work in a team and communicate well, are resilient and persistent, responsible and interested in further education and technology.

After completing systems engineering training and studying at a university of applied sciences, graduates are awarded the federally recognized title of "qualified systems engineer HF" (formerly "qualified technician HF systems engineering").

The degree course in systems engineering is only offered at universities of applied sciences (UAS), not at universities. Alternatively, it is possible to train as a systems engineer (formerly HF systems engineering technician) at a university of applied sciences (HF).
