Structure of the Insurance Brokerage Course

Insurance brokerage training programs are structured in modules. The modules can usually be booked individually, and relevant prior knowledge is generally credited. Individual training providers offer different courses for career changers (with no knowledge or experience in the insurance industry) and for professionals (with knowledge and/or experience).

Classes are held in person or as "blended learning" (web-based self-study alternating with in-person classes). Most insurance brokerage courses also include web-based training options, self-assessments, and midterm exams.

After successfully completing all modules, participants take the VBV exam, which consists of a written and an oral portion.

Course Duration and Course Fees

• In-person courses in insurance brokerage consist of 14–17 course days (spread over about 3 months) and cost approximately CHF 4,700–4,900.
• Blended-learning courses (with approximately 10 days of in-person instruction) cost approximately CHF 4,000–4,200.
• Shortened courses for participants with knowledge of and experience in insurance typically last 7 days over 5–6 weeks and cost approximately CHF 2,500.
• Prices for individual modules depend on the number of lessons or days. One day costs approximately CHF 300–350.

Additional Costs

• The cost of course materials is included in some insurance brokerage courses, while in others it is an additional expense.
