Job description for administrative specialist

The administrative specialist is a member of management and is primarily employed in the field of occupational pensions. They can work for insurance companies, banks, administrations, pension funds or trust companies, for example.

 

One focus of the activities of an administrative specialist is the smooth processing of the second pillar (the second pillar includes pension payments, vested benefits, lump-sum benefits, collection of contributions, etc.). In order to be able to cope with this very demanding task, the job requires broad know-how and comprehensive knowledge of the legal basis as well as practical experience in the field of occupational pensions.

 

In addition, the administrative specialist also deals with financing issues relating to the benefits guaranteed by a pension fund. In the area of accounting, the main focus is on the optimal investment of salary percentages.

Questions and answers

At least three years of professional experience, including at least one year in occupational pensions, are required in order to be able to register for the Federal Professional Examination for Administration Specialist (Specialist in Occupational Pensions).

After passing the Federal Professional Examination for continuing education, further training as an administrative specialist, you will be awarded the title: "Specialist in employee benefits with a federal certificate".

The Federal Professional Examination for Administrative Specialists or Specialists in Personal Pension Provision consists of six examination parts. Parts one to four of the examination are written and have a single weighting: "Legal foundations", "Insurance technology", "Accounting" and "Investments". Examination part five, "Pension fund management case studies", has a double weighting and a four-hour instead of a two-hour written examination, and examination part six is also a half-hour oral examination with a single weighting.

The continuing education, further training as an administrative specialist in preparation for the Federal Diploma of Higher Education in Pension Fund Management takes two years and is carried out in parallel with work.
