Wound expert training: overview of schools, information

The costs for the training in wound healing and wound care, which concludes with the SafW "Wound Expert" diploma, amount to just under CHF 8,000 including the registration fee. However, the costs may vary slightly depending on the course, so it is important to clarify this with the school in advance.

A degree in nursing at continuing education and training / tertiary level is required as a basis. After this, the wound expert training course, which was developed by the Swiss Society for Wound Treatment, can be completed in four modules. The schools provide detailed information about the admission criteria.

The following specialists are authorized to train as wound experts:

• Qualified nurses at continuing education and training / tertiary level (CHE, DN II, UAS, AKP, PsyKP, KWS)
• Certified podiatrists CHE
• Specialists in long-term nursing and care and in psychiatric nursing and care with Federal Diploma of Higher Education
• Medical practice coordinators in the clinical field with Federal Diploma of Higher Education

Further criteria:

• Min. 2 years experience in wound treatment
• Min. 40% employment in wound treatment
• Good knowledge of German

A "Sur-Dossier" admission is possible. The schools will answer any questions directly.

Wound experts provide professional wound care, support, encourage and advise patients in their self-organization and responsibility and advise them on their state of health.

The Wound Expert training course has a modular structure and can be completed within one or up to ten years. In terms of time, graduates can expect 20 days of classroom teaching and 200 additional hours of self-study. There is also half a day of tutorials and 12 hours of work shadowing. The times can also vary depending on the provider - it is best to ask the schools directly for precise information.
