The first craniosacral preparatory courses for the new Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE), which awards graduates a federal diploma as a complementary therapist in the craniosacral therapy method, have been running since 2015.

Practicing cranio-sacral therapists who are members of Cranio Suisse are obliged to attend regular further training courses in order to maintain their high standard of qualification. At least 40 hours of further training are required per training period, which covers two calendar years. These can be selected from a range of courses on offer and are divided into specialist courses and elective courses. It is not necessary for you to have basic medical training before starting training in craniosacral therapy; you can also complete this directly with the respective school during your continuing education, further training. Only if your training in craniosacral therapy meets all the requirements of the EMR (ErfahrungsMedizinisches Register) can you be registered with this method and thus have your services billed via the supplementary insurance policies of many health insurance companies. For craniosacral therapy, this means that you need at least 200 hours of methodological training and at least 150 hours of basic medical training. However, all craniosacral therapy schools will provide you with information on the exact minimum requirements for health insurance recognition and will inform you which of their courses and training programs meet these criteria.
