A derivative is a financial product that is derived from another financial product, also known as an underlying asset. A CAS Finance is offered as a Certificate of Advanced Studies course by various Universities of Applied Sciences and universities, all of which have different focuses and content. The structure of the individual CASs is therefore also very different. For example, the course in finance at the ZHAW consists of two modules, Core Finance and Applied Finance, at the fhnw of six modules: Qualitative Analysis, Capital Market Theory, Economics, Valuation of Financial Instruments, Corporate Finance and Ethics and at the uzh of the courses eCorporate Finance Basis and eCorporate Finance Advanced or eCoporate Valuation.

A CAS is a Certificate of Advanced Studies, a continuing education course at a Universities, usually a University of Applied Sciences or a University. A CAS in Law usually requires a university degree as well as several years of professional experience. Such a course in law can be designed both for lawyers and for people without a legal background (e.g. basic legal training for non-lawyers), so you should always find out exactly what the admission requirements and target groups are. Please also note that a CAS is not federally regulated, so you will find different courses at each Universities, even if they have the same name, such as CAS in Business Law.
