The HFP qualification is a federally recognized professional qualification with a protected title in the field of higher professional education: Naturopath with a federal diploma. Such an official qualification is becoming increasingly important in society and in the healthcare sector. In certain cantons, the federal diploma is already required for practicing the profession. This could increase in the future.

Since April 2015, you can take an Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE) in complementary medicine to become a naturopath with a federal diploma.

A federally recognized training in alternative medicine has been possible since 2015 with a higher professional examination (HFP) to become a naturopath with a federal diploma.

Homeopathy training can also be completed with a federal diploma. This is possible, for example, as part of the Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE), after passing which the candidate is entitled to hold the federally recognized title of "Naturopath with a Federal Diploma in Homeopathy".

The requirements for completing a naturopath AFPE course are:

• Proof of Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training, Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training, Matura or equivalent qualification and at least two years of professional experience in the relevant field
• Proof of the required module qualifications or certificates of equivalence and submission of a case study in the correct form
• Minimum age of 25 years
• Extract from the central criminal record without entries that are incompatible with the purpose of the examination.
