Tipps und Entscheidungshilfen für die Ausbildungswahl

Overfishing, intoxication and oxygen-depleted waters inevitably lead to a destroyed ecosystem. Fish are perfect early warning systems for determining the water quality of the smallest streams or large lakes. Trout and char in particular are extremely susceptible to water pollution, but other fish species also react sensitively to changes in the environment. In flowing and still waters, the biological water quality can be determined and, if necessary, optimized through targeted fisheries management by surveying the fish population.

With the CAS Certificate of Advanced Studies in Freshwater Fish in Europe - Ecology and Management, graduates are able to carry out targeted species identification and immediately apply their in-depth knowledge of bioindication. In an 18-month course, participants learn everything they need to know about aquatic habitats and species as well as the management of habitats and species. In 10 days of attendance, participants learn about the river, lake and small lake habitats as well as the FOEN's modular step-by-step concept. A further 10 attendance days cover the topics of threats, influences, renaturation and inventory of rivers and lakes, diseases, fisheries management and stocking.

After completing and passing your final thesis, you will be awarded the Certificate of Advanced Studies and will be ready to work as an aquatic ecologist. Have we piqued your interest? Would you like to find out more about this unique and extremely exciting certificate course? Then request comprehensive training documents from the universities today, free of charge and without obligation, and soon you will be able to further your education in the field of fisheries management.

At the end of the course, CAS participants will also be able to apply bioindication methods and interpret the results, as well as independently support species protection programs and watercourse measures.

The CAS in Fisheries Management consists of three modules, the first two of which can also be attended individually. Teaching takes place in lectures, excursions and practice-oriented exercises and lasts just under 18 months. Module 1 focuses on aquatic habitats and species knowledge and consists of 10 attendance days, as does module two with the topic "Management of habitats and species". In the third module, a supervised final thesis is written and one day of attendance time is invested.

Module 1 of the advanced training certificate course on fisheries management of European freshwater fish deals with the ecomorphology, ecology and biology of native fish species, the river habitat, legislation, the aquatic environment and hydrology, the lake habitat, invasive fish species, fish diseases and stock protection measures. In the second module, participants are trained in bioindication methods and the inventory of lakes and rivers, water quality assessment, threats, renaturation and principles / anthropogenic influences on lakes and rivers, fisheries, management and stocking as well as the FOEN's module level concept.

A CAS (Certificate of Advanced Studies) is a further education qualification from a Universities.
