Energy consultant for buildings with Federal Diploma of Higher Education: Overview of providers, training, information, self-test

The Energy Consultant for Buildings course is a preparatory course that prepares you for the federal professional examination (BP), which, if passed, will award you a federal certificate. The further training course for the Higher Professional Examination (HFP) Energy and Efficiency Consultant is also federally recognized and, if passed, will award you a federal diploma. For both further training courses, completion of all required modules is mandatory, unless you can provide a certificate of equivalence, which you complete within the preparatory courses.

You can train to become an energy consultant for buildings with a BP professional examination or a subsequent HFP higher professional examination.

The professional examination comprises five compulsory modules, which must be completed before the examination. These are: Building construction, building physics, implementation planning, evidence and funding applications as well as building technology and renewable energy. In addition to a diploma thesis, proof or certificates of equivalence for the following six modules must be presented for the advanced technical examination: Technical Fundamentals of Energy Technology, Technical Fundamentals of Construction, Technical Installations, Energy Management, Measures for Energy Efficiency and the Use of Renewable Energies, Business Management. The schools for energy consulting will inform you about the individual contents and structure.

The schools set their own rules for admission to continuing education, further training in energy consulting for buildings. You should therefore refer to the admission requirements for the Federal Professional Examination in terms of the required prior education.

The following qualifications - together with the required module qualifications or certificates of equivalence - allow you to be admitted to the Federal Professional Examination for Energy Consultants for Buildings:

• Federal VET Diploma in the construction industry; after the Federal VET Diploma you must also have at leastseven yearshave professional experience in building services engineering or building envelopes, including at least three years with management experience and/or customer advice
• Federal VET Diploma in another industry; after the Federal VET Diploma you must also have at leastten yearshave professional experience in building services engineering or building envelopes, including at least three years with management experience and/or customer advice
