With their work in maintaining the value of technical equipment and systems, maintenance specialists have become a key success factor for the economy and society, not least in the context of digitalization and Industrialization 4.0. The range of jobs in maintenance at various functional levels is correspondingly large. The federal certificate proves that maintenance specialists have both the technical knowledge and skills as well as the necessary experience for this responsible task.
The professional examination for maintenance specialists has been in existence since 2006 and is well established on the job market and with employers. The revised examination regulations came into force in 2017, adapting the examination content to the current, increasingly complex requirements of the profession. The maintenance specialist professional examination is backed by fmpro - the Swiss Association for Facility Management and Maintenance. With the federally recognized qualification, fmpro - together with the Federal Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation SERI - is responding to a clear demand from the economy and the job market.
The professional examination "Maintenance Specialist" is a further training course at the higher vocational education level and is one of the federally recognized examinations. It offers a first professional specialization at tertiary level after basic vocational training (EFZ) and is highly valued by employers due to its practical relevance.
