In the Swiss education system, the vocational examination is a first specialization after basic vocational training and is well established and highly regarded by employers. In-depth specialist knowledge, specialized knowledge and leadership skills are acquired here. For example, people with a Federal PET Diploma can take on more responsibility and more demanding tasks than those with an EFZ qualification. They therefore make a significant contribution to the economic success of individual companies.
The long-standing existence of the professional examination for communication specialists with a federal certificate (it has been in existence since 2008, at that time still under the title of communication planner) speaks for a high level of recognition among employers and HR managers. The good reputation of the course is reflected, among other things, in the professional status of graduates. According to the Federal Statistical Office, 44% of graduates are employed in management positions, compared to only 29% without a federal certificate (as at 2017, source: Federal Statistical Office, 20.5.2021).
Although the range of vacancies in the field of communication, marketing and sales is extensive, it can be dependent on the economic situation, which is why fluctuations in supply are to be expected.
The professional examination conveys both theoretical specialist knowledge and analytical skills as well as practical skills, and the career prospects are correspondingly good.
