Logistics clerk / logistics assistant: Entry and advancement in the logistics industry

Logistics assistants take on administrative tasks within the entire logistics chain. They process orders independently and are the point of contact for customers, suppliers, freight forwarders and authorities. They are members of the logistics team and support their superiors in specialist and project-specific tasks in procurement, production, warehousing, distribution and disposal. Logistics assistants are also known as "logistics clerks".

RelevanceLogistics is one of the mainstays of the global economy. Every day, masses of materials, goods and products are transported from one place to another - by ship, plane, train, car, bicycle or on foot. The constant demand for qualified specialists with the necessary insight is correspondingly high.

ActivityLogistics clerks are typically employed in production, transport, forwarding, trading or import/export companies. For example, they receive orders, check them, prepare the goods and book everything correctly in the system. They monitor the order status, clarify delivery dates, handle customs formalities and send invoices. They also keep stock lists, maintain master data in the system and update product prices and service details.

The "Logistics Clerk" course usually concludes with the school's own certificate. Most schools also offer preparation for the external SSC module examinations for the "SSC Certificate FPE". The SSC Certificate FPE is a prerequisite for the Federal Professional Examination for "Logistics Specialist with Federal Diploma of Higher Education". The training therefore offers an ideal first level of specialization in the logistics sector and also opens the door to higher qualifications with the SSC Certificate FPE.

Learning contentTraining as a logistics clerk imparts knowledge of the six SSC basic modules: Supply chain management, economics, finance and accounting, project management, quality management, self-management and employee management.
