For people who want to train and individually supervise an employee, apprentice or individual student, this SVEB (Swiss Association for Continuing Education, Further Training) certificate training is ideal. But beware: since the SVEB revision in 2023, the activity and the qualification have a new name:SVEB certificate instructor - individual supervision.

For people who train several adults in groups, the SVEB certificate Instructor - Conducting Learning Events (formerly: SVEB Course Instructor) is recommended.

Continuing education, further training as a trainer with SVEB certificate can take place at different times depending on the school, often on Saturdays, so that you do not have to reduce your working hours in every case. If there is no specific financial contribution, many companies will allow you to use your working hours for a course so that you do not lose out financially. As a vocational trainer in training companies with 40 or 100 learning hours, you already have basic knowledge of adult education. If you want to deepen and expand your knowledge of adult education and perhaps also increase the scope of your learning support, continuing education, further training to obtain the SVEB certificate for trainers - individual support makes sense.

Your previous training or certificate as a vocational trainer will be credited towards the SVEB continuing education, i.e. some of the lessons will be waived. Please contact the school of your choice to clarify the exact amount of credit.

The usual educational path to this certificate leads via the module "Learning support for individuals". You can obtain the SVEB certificate in a minimum of four months (and a maximum of 3 years) with 90 hours of contact learning time, 165 hours of self-study and 150 hours of practical experience.

With the SVEB certificate in individual coaching (formerly: practical trainer), you acquire the following skills:

• Transfer guiding objectives, the andragogical orientation and other specifications of the organization to their own practical and learning support
• harmonize the specified goals and content with the framework conditions and the needs of the individual person to be accompanied
• formulate objectives for the learning units together with the person being accompanied and check the achievement of objectives using suitable methods
• Design learning units according to criteria of adult-oriented learning and justify the choice of methods - also in relation to the subject and the professional field - for individual support
• Design the support process in such a way that the self-organization and self-efficacy of the person being supported is promoted
• give the person being supported feedback on their learning progress, formatively and based on formalized criteria
• Shaping the relationship and interaction level between the trainer and the person being supported
• reflect on their own behavior in the role of trainer and draw conclusions from this

The training to become an SVEB trainer for individual coaching takes about 5 months (minimum 4 months, maximum 3 years). It comprises 90 hours of contact learning time (online or face-to-face). In addition, you should expect 150 hours of practice (in which you apply what you have learned in practice, i.e. teaching or accompanying individual learners) and 165 hours of individual learning time (reading, studying, documenting, etc.).This means a total of 405 hours of study time.
