Who is admitted to the Systems Engineering degree program?
Persons with the following previous education are generally admitted to the Systems Engineering degree program:
- Completion of at least 3 years of relevant vocational education and training VET in a technical profession (e.g. Federal VET Diploma in Automation, Federal VET Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics, Federal VET Diploma in Electronics, Federal VET Diploma in Electrical Installation, Federal VET Diploma in Computer Science, Federal VET Diploma in Design, Federal VET Diploma in Polymechanics, or similar)
Or
- Completion of at least 3 years of basic training in another profession or Matura and at least 1 year of professional practice in a technical environment (additional aptitude assessment by College of Higher Education)

Systems engineering training: What subjects are taught in the HF training course for system technicians (formerly HF systems engineering technicians)?
During the systems engineering training to become a systems engineering technician HF (new: systems technician HF), you will receive comprehensive training in a wide range of subjects, in mathematics and statistics as well as in business administration, project management as well as in electrical engineering and electronics. Digital technology, physics, automation, graphical programming and C programming, software engineering, control engineering and materials are also part of the further training to become a systems technician HF, whereby the subjects also depend on the chosen specialization.
How long does the training in systems engineering to become a systems technician CHE (formerly technician CHE systems engineering) take?
Continuing education, further training to become a CHE systems engineer (formerly CHE systems engineering technician) takes six semesters, i.e. three years.
Under certain circumstances, the degree course in Systems Engineering can also be completed as a full-time course, in which case the duration is reduced to four semesters.
