In most companies, the sales and distribution departments make a significant contribution to business success and are correspondingly important. This is also reflected in the fact that there has been a federal professional examination in this area for over 20 years. The former title of sales coordinator was replaced in 2009 by the new qualification of sales specialist with a federal certificate. Depending on the specialization, the sales specialist course is one of the 20 to 25 most popular further training courses in Switzerland. A similar picture can be seen in job advertisements: Up to 5% of vacancies are in sales and require a specialist certificate in sales, for example. The image of sales specialists does not yet do justice to the importance of their work everywhere, but the trend is moving in this direction.
