What qualification do I receive after a course in insurance consulting?
After successfully completing the training in insurance and consulting, you will receive a certificate, depending on the type of course, for example as an "Insurance Broker VBV".
Do I have to pay for an insurance consulting course?
Continuing education, further training in insurance and consulting must be paid for by you as a course participant, unless this is covered by your employer. The costs for an insurance broker VBV course range from CHF 2,500 to CHF 6,500, depending on your previous training in the insurance industry and the school you choose. What training do I need to become an insurance advisor?
If you do not have a Federal VET Diploma in Private Insurance and would now like to enter the insurance industry as an insurance advisor, continuing education, further training as an insurance intermediary (VBV) from the Vocational Training Association of the Swiss Insurance Industry is an excellent option. How long does the training in insurance and consulting take?
The duration of training in insurance consulting can vary depending on the school and degree, for the "Insurance Broker VBV" course you should expect around three to six months.
Is training in insurance consulting federally recognized?
A course in insurance consulting does not lead to a federal qualification. However, in addition to basic training (apprenticeship), federally recognized qualifications include a Federal Professional Examination, such as Social Insurance Specialist with Federal Diploma of Higher Education, Insurance Specialist with Federal Diploma of Higher Education or Health Insurance Specialist with Federal Diploma of Higher Education. Advanced Federal Professional Examinations (AFPE) are also federally recognized, as are university courses leading to a Bachelor's or Master's degree (e.g. claims lawyer).
