Office Management Diploma: What are the main disadvantages?

The office management diploma enables you to receive customers professionally, operate telephone switchboards and communicate with customers. You will be proficient in the most important commercial processing tasks such as master data maintenance, correspondence, minutes, memos, tables, lists and accounting subtasks.

The main disadvantages of training for an office management diploma are:

  1. The office management diploma is not a federal qualification or an apprenticeship diploma (Federal VET Diploma). The VSH diploma is awarded by the largest and most important association of commercial schools in Switzerland. It is recognized throughout Switzerland and is expressly designated by the Swiss Trade Association (sgv) as the first level of basic commercial training. In terms of level, the diploma can be compared with the KV degree (B profile). It provides a good basis for a wide range of jobs in the commercial sector and enables access to the commercial diploma.
  2. At certificate level, the course content and admission requirements are not regulated and can be determined autonomously by the schools. The office management diploma, on the other hand, is subject to clear regulations and certified training quality in accordance with the VSH (Association of Swiss Business Schools).
  3. Business school is usually completed alongside work and the time required for preparation and follow-up work, self-study and examinations is considerable. As a result, free time often has to be sacrificed. However, this pays off for your professional future in any case.
  4. The office management diploma is often not the end of the line: if you want to hold the protected title of "Kauffrau / Kaufmann VSH", you should complete the commercial diploma immediately afterwards. This certifies even more in-depth knowledge in business matters and opens up additional further training opportunities such as Federal Professional Examination.

Graduates have basic commercial knowledge. They are well prepared for their first office job. They are able to cope with everyday computer work and are ready to take on commercial tasks.
