An office management diploma is the ideal entry into the office. Clerks with an office management diploma are often found in the reception area of a company, where they operate the switchboard, receive customers or guests and process incoming mail. They use computers to create letters, minutes and memos, tables and lists according to specifications. They manage the electronic and physical filing system, copy and distribute documents and are the first point of contact for everyone and everything. They manage office supplies, maintain office equipment and, depending on the position, are responsible for the public diary, general e-mail correspondence or monitoring payment transactions via the bank or post office.

You can choose between different models for a VSH office management diploma course and thus complete both a part-time course and a full-time course. The advantage of the part-time office management diploma is that you can continue to work and earn money at the same time. In addition, what you have learned can usually be applied directly in practice.

The office diploma is the basic commercial training on which the commercial diploma can be built. This means that you should always complete the office diploma first and then, if you want to continue learning and training, attend the commercial course until you achieve the commercial diploma.

The further training courses Office Management Diploma (as a first step) and the Commercial Diploma (building on the Office Management Diploma) are not recognized as fully-fledged commercial training like the Federal VET Diploma in Business Administration, but they are ideally suited as an additional qualification for people without a basic commercial education.

Continuing education, further training for the VSH office management diploma usually takes one year. On average, there are around 33 lessons per week. This is possible both full-time and part-time. However, part-time means a certain double workload. Ask the providers directly about the possibilities.

A VSH office management diploma or VSH commercial diploma (VSH - Association of Swiss Commercial Schools) is not the same as an apprenticeship to become an EFZ businessman or businesswoman and is not federally recognized. However, a VSH office management diploma or VSH commercial diploma offers a very good entry into a commercial career.

In addition to a minimum age of 18 years, a good knowledge of German (level B2/C1), knowledge of French and English and completion of compulsory schooling are required. Please contact the school of your choice directly for definitive clarification.

The VSH (Association of Swiss Commercial Schools) office management diploma is the first level of the VSH commercial courses. This diploma provides basic commercial knowledge and usually lasts one year. Building on this, the VSH commercial diploma can be acquired, which requires the office management diploma. This diploma offers you the opportunity to work as a commercial clerk, for example, or to take further courses to obtain the Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (Federal VET Diploma).
