As a cantonal vocational school, FREI'S schools train around 1200 apprentices in six medical and two commercial professions.
Further training, further education and language courses, including an authorized Cambridge English Exam Centre, round off the wide range of private school courses.

Founded in 1897, FREI'S Schulen AG is the oldest private commercial school in Central Switzerland. Since then, around 100,000 people have successfully completed their basic or further training in a medical or commercial profession here.

Every year, around 1,400 apprentices and students attend the school, which is centrally located in Lucerne on the left bank of the lake and can be reached within 7 minutes from Lucerne railroad station.

Questions and answers

The Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) is one of the Cambridge language examinations for non-native speakers. These exams were all developed by the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations and are internationally recognized. The CAE is the second highest of the Cambridge examinations and is a requirement for admission to universities in the UK.

Selbstverständlich besteht auch die Möglichkeit, das Certificate of Advanced English Diploma (CAE) während eines Sprachaufenthalts abzulegen. Dafür bieten einige Sprachschulen eigens entwickelte Diplomkurse an, die Sie in England, den USA, Kanada und vielen weiteren englischsprachigen Ländern besuchen können. Hier auf Ausbildung-Weiterbildung.ch finden Sie zu diesen Diplomsprachkursen auf einer Sprachreise alle wichtigen Informationen, etwa auch in Erfahrungsberichten ehemaliger Sprachschüler und Sprachschülerinnen (siehe Navigationspunkt «Bildungshilfe» oben).

Es besteht keine Pflicht, sich vor Antritt zur Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) Prüfung in einer Sprachschule auf diese vorzubereiten. Jedoch wird es allen Prüflingen empfohlen, da nicht nur die die Sprache und ihre Anwendung, ihre Aussprache und der Ausdruck vermittelt werden, sondern in einem Sprachkurs als Prüfungsvorbereitung auf das CAE auch Testprüfungen durchgeführt werden.

The language test for the Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) is divided into five sections, all of which count equally towards the overall result. These sections are:

  • Understanding the written language
  • Use of the language
