What are the main disadvantages of foot reflexology training?

After completing the foot reflexology training course, you will be able to give healthy people a soothing and relaxing foot reflexology massage - with a diploma course with a medical basis, this is also possible for people with complaints. After a naturopathic anamnesis, you will be able to plan and carry out the appropriate treatment and assess the effectiveness of the method.

The main disadvantages of foot reflexology training are:

  1. The qualification after the foot reflexology training is not federal. However, training in basic medical principles that complies with the regulations of the organizations of the working world (OdA) is a building block on the way to a federal final examination as a complementary therapist (OdA KT) or as a medical masseur (OdA MM). Find out more about the courses on offer, the qualification and the associated career opportunities (e.g. EMR recognition for billing health insurance companies).
  2. At certificate level, the course content and admission requirements are generally not regulated and can be determined autonomously by the schools. However, the OdA and the Swiss Association for Reflexology (SVRT) have clear regulations and certified training quality.
  3. Training usually takes place alongside work and usually lasts at least three years for a diploma course (up to eight years for a federal diploma). Good time management between work, study and leisure is required during the course.
  4. Even after completing the foot reflexology training, the learning does not stop: If you want to work as a qualified complementary therapist, you will ideally need to take the Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE) in addition to your training in foot reflexology. Incidentally, only those who complete the entire training as a preparatory course for the Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE) can benefit from federal subsidies.

Graduates work as self-employed or employed massage therapists or complementary therapists. The basic medical knowledge ensures that the various forms of therapy are recognized by the health insurance companies and guarantees responsible professional practice.
