In principle, all training or further education courses, courses and training programs that provide participants with commercial knowledge, such as office courses or the higher business diploma, can be offered at a commercial school. Training courses that are offered at a VSH business school (recognized by the Association of Swiss Business Schools), Edupool business school (recognized by the Swiss Commercial Association) or are federally regulated are recognized throughout Switzerland. You choose your commercial school qualification:

• VSH Diploma Commercial School (private commercial schools)
  • VSH office management diploma
  • VSH commercial diploma
• Diploma from Edupool.ch business school (in the Swiss Commercial Association)
• Federal certificate of proficiency in commerce (commercial apprenticeship)
• Vocational baccalaureate in the commercial field (BM1 alongside training)
• Vocational baccalaureate in the commercial field (BM2, after EFZ qualification)

The diplomas awarded by the Association of Swiss Commercial Schools VSH are recognized by the Swiss Trade Association SGV as equivalent to basic commercial training with a federal certificate of proficiency. The commercial school diploma can therefore be awarded by different associations.

Ausbildung-Weiterbildung.ch asked those interested in sales specialist training or sales specialist training with a professional examination. A total of 41% said that their interest in individual training institutes came from online reviews. On the other hand, 31 % choose schools for their training inquiry based on a recommendation. 28% of survey participants ask schools for detailed information about the course because they already know them. Business management courses offered by schools or technical colleges, which only last a few days and end with a course certificate, are aimed at very different groups of people. Depending on the focus of the business management courses, they are suitable for junior managers, the self-employed in all sectors, accountants, managing directors or HR managers, for example. Each seminar at each school is aimed at a different target audience depending on the focus.

The training course to become a business economist with a federal diploma is aimed at people who have a basic commercial/business education, e.g. as a technical business administrator or a higher business diploma HWD/VSK, and who can also demonstrate several years of professional experience. This course is ideal for anyone who wants to run an SME in the future.

Continuing education, further training in business administration CHE is suitable for all those who are already established in the commercial sector and aspire to a higher management position. Depending on the focus of interest, various specializations can be chosen so that the general business management knowledge acquired is expanded with knowledge in the area of specialization.

The course is suitable for anyone who wants to lay the foundations for their professional career with a degree in business administration or business management, as graduates with a university degree, especially a university degree, can quickly rise to top management. The Bachelor of Science UAS in Business Administration (BBA UAS) can also be completed on a part-time basis.

Anyone who has to decide between a commercial school and the Advanced Business Diploma HWD will find that it is difficult to enter the HWD directly without a commercial school as a basis. The prerequisite for admission to the HWD is a basic commercial education (level commercial diploma VSH or KV). The schools may grant exceptions in the case of proven professional experience. If you do not yet have any commercial knowledge, you should always attend a commercial college first.

At a business school, it is usually possible to complete a commercial apprenticeship to become a merchant with a Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training B and E profile or with a Federal Vocational Baccalaureate in the M profile. You can also apply for a Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training as a retail trade specialist and find out which other apprenticeships are possible at a business school by contacting the individual schools directly using the contact form.

In addition to basic training, the office management diploma and the commercial diploma, business schools also offer management courses in mathematics, management, English and finance. Various continuing education, further training courses, whether for a certificate or a federal diploma, can be completed in the areas of management and organization; leadership and human resources; finance; as well as marketing, sales and tourism.

Vocational schools can be attended by those who do not yet know exactly which career path they would like to take, as well as those who already know exactly which industry or even which profession they would like to work in, but have not yet been able to conclude an apprenticeship contract.
