What are the disadvantages of homeopathy training?
After homeopathy training, you will be able to work with homeopathic remedies as an independent healing system. It is based on the principle of similarity, drug proving and the potentization of remedies. The level of potency and the dosage of the remedy depend on the symptoms and the general condition of the patient.
The main disadvantages of homeopathy training are:
- Homeopathy training is not regulated by the state, as it usually concludes with a school certificate. However, a cantonal Advanced Federal Diploma of Higher Education (Achtung: Engl.) can be obtained at university of applied sciences level. In order to obtain the association certificate of the umbrella organization Alternative Medicine OdA AM, an internship and four modules (basic medical training, health and ethics, therapeutic work, running and managing a business) must be completed in addition to the training in homeopathy. Following subsequent professional practice with accompanying mentoring, the Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE) in Naturopathy with a federal diploma can be taken.
- At certificate level, the course content and admission requirements are generally not regulated and can be determined autonomously by the schools. When choosing a course, make sure that it supports your professional goals. The industry certificate from the OdA AM or the diploma from the SHI (homeopathy school) can be important - also for billing health insurance companies.
- Working as a homeopath requires good powers of observation, strong communication skills and empathy. Agogic-didactic skills and mental resilience are also required. Not all of these skills can be acquired in a homeopathy training course.
- As homeopathy training usually takes place over a period of three to five years alongside work, it requires good time management alongside the job.
- The training costs of CHF 6,000 to CHF 11,000 for the extended training courses are not subsidized by the federal government if no federal examination is taken.
Graduates of the homeopathy course can use the newly acquired medical treatment method in their traditional field of work in the medical sector or as pharmacists, midwives and nurses. Self-employment with their own practice is also conceivable.
