If you love dogs and would also like to work with your great passion, then dog trainer training is definitely an interesting idea. Many people love and like dogs and therefore decide to buy one. They often don't realize how much work and responsibility is involved in keeping a dog. If dogs are kept incorrectly, their owners violate the Animal Welfare Act - dogs that are spoiled or even aggressive due to incorrect management are a danger to people in their environment and on the street.

Dog trainers therefore fulfill a heavy responsibility and avoid a lot of suffering (for animals and humans) when they support dog owners in training their dogs. In courses for dog owners, some of which are compulsory, dog trainers provide dog owners with important tips on training, keeping and treating dogs.

In practice, this means that the dog trainer runs a dog school. This is usually attended by several dog owners and their loyal companions. The dogs are taught commands in a playful way and exercise is also encouraged. Some dog schools even practice a "dog dance" with the dogs so that they learn to pay attention to the various sounds and noises. However, the most important goal of the dog school is to train the dogs well, to make them obedient and to give the owners confidence in dealing with the dog.

Questions and answers

A final examination is taken over a total of two days after the dog trainer training. This consists of a written and a practical exam as well as an oral exam with video analysis.

The dog school advises against full-time employment during the training to become a dog trainer, as the course is very comprehensive and practice-oriented. Practical training and learning assignments comprise around 1000 hours, plus theory blocks of just over 300 hours. A reduction in working hours to part-time is therefore recommended.

During the dog trainer training course, you will initially take part passively in young dog, puppy and training lessons and observe the dogs together with the instructors. You will only become actively involved as the training progresses. The following topics are also covered by experienced instructors: General information for dog trainers; ethnology; ontogenesis; anatomy and pathology; learning methodology; training; behavior and behavioral problems; breeding and genetics. The course consists of theory, practice and learning assignments and has a total learning time of 1313 hours. It concludes with an examination.

The dog trainer training course usually lasts several months.
