After completing the professional examination, a real estate valuer can, for example, choose the following further training in real estate valuation:

• Courses offered by SVIT Swiss Real Estate School AG and universities of applied sciences
• Higher professional examination (HFP) to become a certified fiduciary expert, certified real estate trustee or certified head of facility management, etc.
• Higher technical college for business administration (HF)
• Degree programs in related fields at universities of applied sciences, e.g. Bachelor of Science (FH) in Facility Management or Bachelor of Science (FH) in Business Administration

The following admission requirements apply to the Federal Professional Examination for Real Estate Appraisers:

• a Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (VET) of at least three years' duration, a school-leaving certificate, a federally recognized commercial diploma, a diploma from a College of Higher Education, a federal certificate, a federal diploma, a university degree (Bachelor's or Master's) or an equivalent qualification

and

• at least three years of full-time professional experience in a profession in the real estate industry since acquiring it

or

• more than five years of full-time professional experience in a profession in the real estate industry, of which at least two years of the required practice in Switzerland or the Principality of Liechtenstein

Holders of the Real Estate Appraiser with Federal Certificate of Competence have the necessary professional competence to value properties in line with the market and are familiar with the economically and legally relevant aspects of the assessment. They assess the opportunities and risks of properties and estimate future changes in value. They are familiar with national and international valuation guidelines and advise clients on the profitability of a property and how to optimize its use.
