You cannot assume that the wording and content of the MarKom exam questions are exactly the same as those in the practice tool. Therefore, do not focus solely on memorizing the questions and answers, but make sure that you actually understand the content and context so that you are able to answer them independently.

You cannot choose which parts of the MarKom certificate exam you work on and which you do not, so you must pass all seven parts with at least 3.0, with only one grade below 4.0 and the average of all parts of the exam must not be below 4.0. This means that you also have to answer MarKom exam questions in law, as well as in business administration, economics, marketing, sales and distribution, PR and marketing communication. You will not only be taught theoretical knowledge in a preparation course, you will also apply this in practical exercises. Depending on the school, the exam preparation in the form of answering MarKom exam questions under the most realistic exam conditions possible (4 hours as in the exam without aids or similar) is carried out differently, but some schools also give you access to their online tool, where you can access a large number of exam questions at any time and work on them at home.

During a preparation course, you will prepare for the exam and answer a whole series of MarKom exam questions from previous years. Once you have registered online for the certificate exam, you will also receive access to the practice tool (zero series), which contains exercises for all seven exam areas and which you must complete in order to be activated on the day of the exam. Many schools also offer specially developed tools where you can find 500 or more exam questions.

The MarKom certificate examination serves as a basis for further Federal Professional Examination in the areas of sales / distribution, communication / advertising, copywriting, PR and marketing. However, after taking a MarKom exam and answering all the MarKom exam questions, you do not necessarily have to aim for a federal certificate. It serves as an orientation so that you can learn more about the individual areas and possibly decide better on a specialization afterwards. The exam is therefore completely identical for every participant, regardless of their future prospects. From the 2019 examination year, however, the certificate examination is no longer mandatory for admission to the Federal Professional Examination.
