Further training for accounting clerks: Experiences of participant Nadja Kühni - as a medical practice assistant I was able to develop my skills in accounting

Who are you and what is your professional background?

My name is Nadja Kühni. I am a medical practice assistant and am currently training to become an accounting clerk at BZWU Weiterbildung.

Why did you choose accounting?

I started working in the practice in the administrative area. Accounting also became a major topic. I now want to create a basis for myself with the accounting clerk training so that I can have my knowledge of accounting confirmed with a "paper".

Why did you choose BZWU Continuing Education as your training institute?

For me, the deciding factor in completing the accounting clerk course at the BZWU was the following: It is a very innovative school that also uses new media and learning methods. There is the option of online teaching and a different learning atmosphere is deliberately created for group work.

How does the Accounting Clerk course support you professionally?

During the accounting clerk course, I learned a lot that I was able to put into practice. This also led to aha experiences. Today, I simply have a better understanding of how to put things into practice in the area of accounting.

What do you like best about the accounting clerk course?

What I really like about the accounting clerk course is the practice-oriented teaching. It's the only way you can benefit a lot from the training as a participant. This is exactly what I can apply one-to-one in my job.

What were the challenges for you during your training as an accounting clerk?

One challenge for me is the fast pace of the training. I really have to keep up with my studies regularly so that I don't lose touch. This is the biggest challenge for me - apart from balancing work and further education, of course.

Has your market value increased as a result of the accounting clerk training?

In any case, this is true. The market value certainly increases with the Accounting Clerk training. You simply have more opportunities with this qualification. Especially if you come from the medical field, like me, and have no commercial training, you can also work in other new areas afterwards.

Are you happier in your job now?

Yes, the accounting clerk training leads to more satisfaction for me. It's a great advantage for the job if you have completed this further training. You really understand exactly what you do in your day-to-day work and how it relates to other things in the company.

What did you find particularly helpful on the Accounting Clerk course?

I can incorporate and apply a lot of knowledge from financial accounting in my daily work. That's why financial accounting is an essential part of my training as an accounting clerk. However, financial management is also very exciting. There I learned how to get more information out of the pure figures.

When do you particularly enjoy your lessons?

I prefer the very practice-oriented lessons in the accounting clerk course. That's where I personally benefit the most. It also gives me the most "aha" moments. I can see how things work in other companies.

Who would you recommend the Accounting Clerk course to?

I recommend the Accounting Clerk course to anyone who is interested in working in an accounting department. The course provides you with very good tools. However, it is important that you already have a background in accounting before starting the course.

What background do the people in your class have?

Our class is made up of people who already have a commercial background, but also lateral entrants from the transportation industry, fiduciary sector, etc. This also makes the accounting clerk apprenticeship very exciting and varied. What is the atmosphere like in the accounting clerk training program?

The atmosphere at the accounting clerk training course is very good. We get on very well with each other and in the group work. There is a good class spirit. The lecturers have a lot of specialist knowledge and you can ask them lots of questions. These questions and other issues from our own day-to-day work are discussed together, debated and thus answered or solved.

What are the advantages of BZWU training for you?

For me, of course, my proximity to the school in Wil is a clear advantage. I received a flyer in the post and this aroused my interest. Because of the proximity to my home and the school's good image, I decided to attend the accounting clerk course at this school.

What are the personal benefits of the Accounting Clerk course?

Personally, the knowledge I gained from the Accounting Clerk course gives me a lot of confidence at work. I know exactly what I do in accounting and understand the background. I find this incredibly important. But I also enjoy doing something for myself and doing further training for myself personally.

Does this also give you better career opportunities?

The accounting clerk course is a good foundation that will enable me to take further steps, such as obtaining a specialist certificate in finance and accounting. This will of course open up new career opportunities for me that I wouldn't otherwise have.
