What are the disadvantages of talent development?

After talent development, you will know your special abilities, which you possess to a much greater extent than others. You will know how you can further develop your special talents and put them to good use.

The main disadvantages of talent development are

  1. As talent development, which usually lasts several years, usually takes place alongside intensive training, the time budget must be well managed and is usually at the expense of private life.
  2. Talent development is usually not just about discovering strengths. In most cases, you also have to deal with your weaknesses. But if you know your strengths and concentrate on developing them further, you will be more satisfied. It is then usually easier to deal with your own weaknesses.
  3. The costs for these special courses are very high at around CHF 12,500 to CHF 50,000 and usually have to be borne by the students themselves. Some cantons support programs for gifted students - including at suitable private schools. Enquire about scholarships.
  4. In order to benefit from talent development in the long term, you must also be able to demonstrate corresponding progress in your talent. In sports clubs, for example, selection takes place and only the best progress. At some point, this can jeopardize the talent-promoting training or at least the promotion (through subsidies). The required performance must also be achieved at school.

Through self-realization and the development of your own personality, you can make the most of your potential - be it in your talent or later in your career through a good degree.
