To be admitted to the Federal Professional Examination for Heating Technician or Heating Supervisor, all required module qualifications as well as an apprenticeship qualification as a heating fitter Federal VET Diploma with at least two years of professional experience in the heating industry after completing the apprenticeship or at least four years of professional experience in the heating industry after completing the apprenticeship with a related Federal VET Diploma qualification must be presented. A heating technician or heating service technician course lasts one week.

The continuing education, further training for the Federal Diploma of Higher Education in Heating (equivalent to a heating technician) takes around 1.5 years and is divided into modular training blocks of two to three weeks each. There is also a voluntary preliminary course lasting two weeks.

As a heating technician, you can take continuing, further training courses to become a heating service technician as well as preparatory courses for the Federal Diploma of Higher Education (FPE) in heating installation.
