Depending on the area of work, they coordinate cooperation between domestic and foreign guests, customers, service providers and other contacts.
The main disadvantages of training to become a qualified tourism specialist CHE are:
- Due to the two to three-year duration of the course, the CHE Tourism Specialist course requires a great deal of time commitment and a high degree of self-discipline and motivation.
- In addition to good business management skills and good foreign language skills, service awareness, communication skills and organizational talent are also important for a job in tourism. Only some of these skills can be acquired by studying to become a tourism specialist CHE.
- Depending on the school, you can expect to pay between CHF 12,000 and CHF 18,000 for the entire course. With the full-time option, there is also no income.
- The CHE Tourism Specialist qualification is largely unknown outside Switzerland and not all foreign managers working in Switzerland are aware of the CHE qualification and its significance. However, it does make it possible to go on to study at a University of Applied Sciences.
- You travel a lot, both in Switzerland and abroad. You must be able to react flexibly to unforeseen events and the workload can vary greatly depending on the assignment and season. You often have to deal with an international clientele and therefore need to speak at least two national languages and English.
Tourism specialists CHE work in specialist and management functions in lower and middle management or in the operational area of travel and tourism agencies, tour operators, tourism organizations and transport companies. They also work in spa and congress centers, hotels, airlines, sports centers, in tourism and leisure departments of companies and in the event sector.
