The degree course in Tourism CHE takes three years with a total of 5400 learning hours, either part-time or full-time. If you have a certificate of proficiency as a businessman / businesswoman profile B, E, M, as a retail trade specialist or a commercial Federal Vocational Baccalaureate, you only need to complete 3600 hours of study in two years.

Unlike at Universities of Applied Sciences, it is not possible to spend a semester abroad while studying at a College of Higher Education to become a tourism specialist. However, it is possible for prospective tourism specialists to gain experience abroad during a one-year internship.

It does not necessarily have to be a job in tourism that you pursue during the CHE degree course in tourism. Employment in the leisure industry or a tourism-related field is also possible. However, you should make sure that you find at least 50% employment in one of these areas.

It is true that you must complete an aptitude test for admission to the degree course in Tourism CHE. However, this does not necessarily have to consist of a written entrance examination, but can also consist of an admission interview, possibly with a probationary period.

Professionals from the tourism sector who have three or more years of professional experience can, if necessary, enter the third year of training at some schools after the first year of training as a tourism specialist and skip the internship year.
