Business IT specialist with a federal certificate: Dereny Amlehn's experience report - as a business IT specialist, I would like to develop further in the direction of project work

Who are you and what do you do?

I am Dereny Amlehn. I originally completed a commercial apprenticeship in Lucerne. I work at Löwenfelds Partner as an IT supporter for first and second level support. I also work in the project management office. As I have slipped into the IT sector, I wanted to acquire the necessary knowledge through specific further training. I recently completed myFurther training in business informaticsstarted.

What further training are you completing at the WISS School?

I am completing further training as a business IT specialist with a subsequent professional examination for the federal certificate.

What convinced you about WISS?

Together with my supervisor, I looked at various schools. I liked the WISS offer the best. Everyone I had contact with beforehand was very courteous and friendly.

How does the Business IT Specialist course support your professional activity?

So far, the business IT course has helped me to think and contribute more to the business. I can already put the knowledge I have acquired in process management into practice in my project-based part-time work in the project management office.

What have you particularly liked about the business IT apprenticeship so far?

What I have particularly liked about the Business Information Systems course so far is the course times and the online lessons without travel times. The lecturers have been very accommodating so far.

Did you face any challenges during your business IT training?

The challenge in further training as a business IT specialist is the part-time training itself. This is because I have to compensate for the working time that is lost for the business IT specialist training. Online teaching also poses challenges. You haven't met the other participants in person yet, so there hasn't been much direct interaction between them.

What is your goal with the business informatics course?

By training as a business IT specialist, I have the opportunity to earn a higher salary and have a better position in the team.

Has the course increased your satisfaction?

My satisfaction has increased a lot with the Business IT Specialist course. I can have more of a say in the business and get involved in things like processes. This leads to more recognition from team members and my line manager.

How IT-heavy is the business IT training?

As I come from the commercial sector, the IT content and understanding of IT is also somewhat challenging for me. Fortunately, I have a large network of IT specialists and business IT experts in the business that helps me.

To whom would you recommend training as a business IT specialist with a federal certificate?

I would recommend training as a business IT specialist with a federal certificate to people who already have previous knowledge of IT. Otherwise, you need people who can support and help you.

Were there any key moments for you during your training?

My key moment during the business IT specialist training is the better understanding of project work. I now understand the interrelationships better and can apply them in business. I like this part very much and I can well imagine it in my future.

What has the mood been like so far?

The atmosphere in the online lessons for the business IT training course has been great so far. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to see each other or get to know each other in person yet due to home schooling.

What does training as a business IT specialist mean to you?

Training to become a business IT specialist with a federal certificate is a great opportunity for me. I have a lot of support from my business. I'm looking forward to learning new things and then being able to apply them in my day-to-day work. My aim is to apply the knowledge I have gained during my training as a business IT specialist in my day-to-day work.
