Tipps und Entscheidungshilfen für die Ausbildungswahl

Are you dreaming of furthering your professional education or training and thinking about becoming a specialist translator? Then you have a wide range of options for combining languages and specialist fields. For example, how about working as a specialist translator for English-German in the fields of IT and business? French-Spanish in the field of law? Or for German-Italian in the fields of medicine and technology? Depending on where your strengths and skills lie, you will already know exactly which areas are most suitable for you. If you have professional training in the automotive industry, this could also be an excellent sector for translating test reports, instruction manuals, advertising brochures, annual reports, articles and much more into another language.

With a Master's degree in specialist translation, you can, for example, work as a specialist translator in a translation agency that receives orders from a wide variety of clients and employs a whole range of specialist translators who all specialize in different language/subject combinations. Some specialist translation experts are employed by large companies and corporations and are entrusted with translations for internal and external communication. However, most are self-employed and can work as freelancers for private clients, companies, radio, television or print media.

However, in order to work in this profession, you need to have a sound knowledge of translation. A Bachelor's degree in Multilingual Communication is therefore the basis for further specialization in the field of specialist translations. You can find out which universities of applied sciences and universities offer such a Bachelor's degree course here at Ausbildung-Weiterbildung.ch. Of course, you will also find extensive information on your options for studying for a Master's degree in specialist translation.
