My name is Claudia Baumann. I live in Hünenberg. I originally worked as a technical draughtswoman in mechanical engineering. Later I worked as an assistant in construction management. I also set up my own practice for cosmetic foot care.
I completed a foot care course at the Academy. I chose the Bella Vita Academy because it is so close by, the instructor, Carmela Ramundo, has a great deal of specialist knowledge and offers a wide range of courses.
I am able to integrate the expertise I gained from my training as a cosmetic pedicurist into my private life. I now look after my feet in a much more targeted way. This also gives me more pleasure for myself.
Thanks to my foot care training, I have opened my own practice in my own home. I have a specially equipped room with an electric pedicure chair and all the utensils I need to provide my services as a cosmetic pedicurist. I can now offer professional cosmetic foot care.
What was special about the foot care training for me was that I was able to complete it in private lessons over eight weeks (4 training days and self-study) on a part-time basis. That was very beneficial for me. I was able to benefit more than in a large learning group. However, it is also a bit more rigorous, as you always have to be one hundred percent present. But I am convinced that it will pay off for me in the end.
We worked with test subjects relatively early on. This allowed me to immediately apply the theoretical knowledge I had acquired in practice. This is particularly good for gaining practical experience. I learned how to carry out cosmetic foot care in such a way that the person being treated was completely happy. This also pleased me, and so I also went home with a smile on my face...
It's still difficult to say. Because it was all pretty new to me. I had never trained at a school in this field or worked with test subjects before. But I wouldn't want to miss it at all.
The atmosphere during the foot care training was very good. Always very friendly and competent. Of course, it was also very informative. I can really recommend the Bella Vita Academy.
Chiropody training is based on knowledge of basic medical principles, i.e. anatomy and pathology. That's why it makes sense to take a course in this before attending a pedicure school. I did this on the recommendation of the lecturer. Of course, it meant memorizing the complex theoretical correlations. At the same time, it was very exciting. And the theory is absolutely essential for later success as a cosmetic chiropodist. It is also important to have this background for other further training courses.
I probably wouldn't have found a personal goal. The basic training taught me this, which I actually achieved with the foot care training. This gave me a clear idea of the direction I wanted to take. There are many possibilities. I knew exactly that training in foot care was the right thing for me.
Your own practice is off to a good start - the demand for foot care is particularly high in spring. However, it still takes a little patience. But I'm confident that it will work out well. At the moment, I'm still working part-time. The aim is to further expand my health services with Thai Chi and Kong Fu.
I have actually experienced such a successful foot care experience at home and can tell you about it. A customer had a hardening on his foot and I was able to find out that it was a small plantar wart. I referred him to a doctor or dermatologist for further treatment.
The difference between a cosmetic chiropodist and a podiatrist is that a cosmetic chiropodist may only perform foot care on healthy feet. In particular, she can carry out targeted prophylaxis. This means that her treatment lays the foundation for preventing serious foot conditions from occurring in the first place. She recognizes nail and skin changes at an early stage and can act accordingly. There are around 9 different types of corns. She also learns to identify those that she can treat. She can also treat ingrown nails without being invasive. In the case of nail fungus, plantar warts, etc., she is happy to refer patients to a dermatologist.
You can expect to have more beautiful feet after a pedicure by a chiropodist. This means that calluses are removed and the nails and cuticles are beautified. Foot baths and a foot and calf massage as well as a gemstone massage on the sole of the foot can provide relaxation.
I would recommend the foot care training course to people who are already working in a similar field and want to expand their range of services. For example, as a supplement to classic massage, cosmetics, foot reflexology and so on. I can also imagine completing further training in similar areas myself.
