In the experience of our training consultants, most people who are interested in this further training are those who want to take on a new role in adult education or are already doing so and would like to acquire the necessary basic knowledge. This impression is also confirmed by most of these comments when stating optional reasons for their interest in the SVEB course:

SVEB certificates are issued by theSwiss Association for Adult Educationand certify that their holders have the ability to impart knowledge to individuals or groups and to conduct learning events or learning support.

The certificates are part of theAda construction kit. "AdA" stands for "training of trainers".

Since the SVEB revision 2023, there are zwei SVEB certificates:

• Instructor - Conducting learning events (the former SVEB 1 certificate course instructor)
• Trainer - individual supervision (the former SVEB 1 certificate for practical trainers)

No. The SVEB certificate is the first level in the field of adult education or AdA (training of trainers). It certifies the basic methodological and didactic knowledge required to work as an adult educator or to accompany individual learners.

Building on an SVEB certificate, the Federal Diploma of Higher Education can be sought, i.e. the learning achievements for the SVEB certificate are part of the learning material and the requirements for this Federal Professional Examination. It forms the second level in the Ada modular system.

Valid until 2023:

The SVEB 1 is a certificate in adult education as a trainer (formerly course instructor), which certifies that you have the necessary skills to plan and run an educational event for adults. With SVEB 2, the second level for trainers, you acquire the federal certificate.

Attention: Since the revision of the SVEB system in 2023, there are only the SVEB certificates "SVEB Trainer - Implementation of learning events" and "SVEB Trainer - Individual support" at level 1.

As a vocational trainer in training companies with 40 or 100 learning hours, you already have basic knowledge of adult education. If you want to deepen and expand your knowledge of adult education and perhaps also increase the scope of your learning support, continuing education, further training to obtain the SVEB certificate for trainers - individual support makes sense.

Your previous training or certificate as a vocational trainer will be credited towards the SVEB continuing education, i.e. some of the lessons will be waived. Please contact the school of your choice to clarify the exact amount of credit.

The SVEB certificate "Instructor - conducting learning events" (formerly: SVEB 1 course instructor) trains you in adult education and consists of the first module of the Federal Diploma of Higher Education for instructors, the module "Conducting learning events with adults". During your training, you will learn how to prepare, conduct and evaluate various courses in accordance with prescribed curricula and, as a rule, with prescribed teaching materials. You will only learn how to design and organize training courses and learning events at level 2 of the adult educator training course, namely in the continuing education, further training for the Federal Diploma of Higher Education.

Attention:Since the SVEB revision 2023, this qualification is calledSVEB certificate for trainers - individual coaching.

The continuing education, further training for the SVEB certificate for trainers - individual mentoring (formerly: SVEB 1 practical trainer) is aimed on the one hand at existing trainers and on the other hand at people who want to start mentoring learners, employees or students and acquire the necessary qualifications.

Anyone working in learning support or adult education should have attended an SVEB adult education course. An SVEB course teaches the basics of learning support or the implementation of learning events with adults. You learn to adhere to conceptual guidelines. Practical trainers, instructors or course leaders learn how to prepare curricula and teaching materials, conduct and evaluate lessons. The skills learned are confirmed by an SVEB certificate. Those who wish to continue their training afterwards can, for example, obtain a digital SVEB further training certificate. With the SVEB digital continuing education certificate, you can confidently use the tools of the digital world in adult education.

With some SVEB providers, it is possible to complete the SVEB certificate in combination with the recognized EUROLTA certificate for language course instructors. To be on the safe side, you should ask the schools directly whether this option is available. For people who want to teach languages, this is certainly an ideal supplement.
