HR specialists with Federal Diploma of Higher Education: Professional qualification for Human Resources Management

HR specialists with a Federal Diploma of Higher Education can be deployed independently and in a target-oriented manner in all HR management processes: Personnel development and recruitment, job design, assessment, remuneration and separation. This is because the Federal Professional Examination confirms specialist knowledge in human resources management as well as detailed knowledge of salaries, social insurance and employment laws. Persons who have successfully passed the certificate examination as an HR assistant (formerly HR assistant) or have acquired an equivalent qualification such as an edupool.ch human resources clerk are admitted to the examination. In addition, four years of professional experience and at least two years of experience in HR management are required. The HR Specialists with Federal Diploma of Higher Education course teaches the following course content over three semesters:

  • Economics, business administration and HR management
  • Labor law and social partnership
  • Social insurances
  • Interaction, information and networks
  • Specialization of your choice: Corporate Human Resources Management, Public Recruitment and Consulting or Private Recruitment and Hiring

The choice of specialization also influences the title of the respective HR specialist, which is awarded after passing the examination. With this qualification, you can also take on the role of training manager thanks to the relevant knowledge. The following three specializations are available for continuing education, further training for HR specialists:

  • Operational Human Resource Management: specialized in HR management Specialized in personnel management - as a competent contact and sought-after expert in various HR processes. Your field of activity includes all the functions of a modern HR manager: job evaluation, creation of requirement profiles, personnel recruitment, personnel assessment and development, payroll accounting, compliance with labor and social security regulations, etc.
  • Public recruitment and consultancy: You tend to work in the field of public recruitment and consultancy and have a broad range of expertise in all areas of human resources: both in recruitment consultancy and in recruitment or in the RAV (Regional Employment Centers). In your day-to-day work, you will be guided by the requirements of federal law (AVIG). You will take on responsible tasks, coordinate your work with other institutions and have a wide range of responsibilities.
  • Private recruitment and placement: In private recruitment, you support clients (companies looking for staff and jobseekers) throughout the entire job search process. The core tasks also include the support and placement of temporary staff. You will build up a stable customer network and coordinate the various requirements of your customers.

HR specialists in personnel administration assess how many and which employees a company should hire. They draw up pay scales, create job advertisements, conduct job interviews, select applicants and draft and sign employment contracts. If necessary, they hire and fire staff. In addition, they manage and monitor working hours, organize employees' continuing education, further training and supervise apprentices. They also ensure communication between management and employees.

Agile HR management is an important topic for HR professionals who want to establish a dynamic and agile structure in the HR department in an agile organization. Several years of experience in the field of human resources is recommended to ensure a comprehensive understanding.

The following requirements must be met for the Federal Professional Examination HR Specialist:

  • Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (VET Diploma), Baccalaureate, Specialized Baccalaureate, Secondary School Certificate or equivalent qualification
  • successfully passed the personnel assistant or HR assistant certificate examination and ID card

Additionally for the specialization in Operational Human Resource Management:

  • 4 years of professional experience after completing the Federal VET Diploma or Matura, of which at least 2 years in HR

Additionally for the specialization in public personnel placement and consulting:

  • 4 years of professional experience after completing the Federal VET Diploma or high school diploma, of which at least 2 years in the field of unemployment insurance and insolvency compensation

Additionally for the specialist area of private recruitment and placement:

  • 4 years of professional experience after completing the Federal VET Diploma or Matura, of which at least 2 years in HR, including at least 1 year in private recruitment and staff leasing

After continuing education, further training for HR specialists at the Federal Professional Examination, the following parts of the examination are tested:

  • General knowledge about human resources with different question types
  • Case study with a subject-specific topic (written) and presentation of an initial situation and a proposed solution (oral)
  • Professional behavior in everyday working life in various situations including suitable measures (oral) as well as assessment of a conversation situation presented by video including measures for improvement (oral)

After your HR specialist training, you have the following further training options:

  • Courses and other offerings from technical and vocational schools and professional associations, for example in personnel management, career planning or communication techniques
  • Advanced Federal Diploma of Higher Education (AFPE), for example Head of Human Resources or Head of Training with a federal diploma (HF!)
  • College of Higher Education for courses in related fields, e.g. business administration diploma
  • University of Applied Sciences for degree programs in related fields, for example Bachelor of Science in Business Administration or in Applied Psychology. Different admission requirements apply depending on the University of Applied Sciences
  • Postgraduate level for courses offered by Universities of Applied Sciences and universities in various fields, e.g. MAS in Human Capital Management or Human Resources Leadership HWZ

HR specialists with a Federal Diploma of Higher Education perform the following tasks in the field of personnel consulting and recruitment:

  • advise companies on the recruitment of permanent or temporary employees
  • are looking for employees who meet the company's requirements profiles
  • monitor the labor market
  • put jobseekers in touch with suitable employers
  • Writing and publishing job advertisements
  • calculate and invoice the fee depending on the order
  • Reintegrate jobseekers who are supported by the regional employment centers (RAV) into the labor market
  • Forwarding application dossiers
  • Updating the list of vacancies

You should have the following personal requirements for Human Resources Management:

  • Leadership and social skills
  • High sense of responsibility
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Strong contact and communication skills

Da es keine gesamtschweizerischen eigentlichen Lehrbücher für den Lehrgang HR-Fachleute gibt, finde es schwierig, ob in den Lehrmitteln alles so abgebildet ist, wie es an der Prüfung verlangt wird. Dies liegt aber am Lehrgang und nicht an der AKAD. Sinnvoll wäre es, wenn es für den Lehrgang einheitliche Unterlagen gäbe.

Zweisemestriger Kurs zum HR Fachfrau/Fachmann (Dienstagabend in Zürich). Ich würde die Ausbildung wieder bei AKAD machen. Die Lehrbücher fand ich sehr gut für den grossen Anteil Selbststudium. Das Modell mit einem Abend pro Woche passte gut in meine berufliche und familiäre Situation. Man wurde gut auf die Prüfungen vorbereitet! Sehr gut fand ich auch die interne Vorprüfung! Im Grossen und Ganzen bin ich zufrieden mit dem Lehrgang und der Schule. Fragen wurden immer relativ zügig beantwortet und ich hatte immer eine Anlaufstelle dafür. Persönlich hätte ich mir die Online Meetings anders vorgestellt und fände dies für die Zukunft auch gut noch ein wenig zu überdenken. Eventuell müssen doch 2 Online Meetings pro Monat (und zeitlich länger) stattfinden, damit einerseits mehr an Wissen transferiert und geschult werden kann und andererseits auch ein Austausch unter den Studierenden gewährleistet wird. Auch für die intensivere Prüfungsvorbereitung - vor allem mündlich - wäre der eine oder andere Austausch mehr noch hilfreich gewesen. Hier tappte man eher im dunkeln, bis zur internen Probeprüfung. Ob es nun an den Prüfungen definitiv klappt, sei noch dahingestellt.

Mehr Online-Möglichkeiten anbieten und ein Online-Portal erstellen, wo alles geteilt werden kann und auch "Online-Prüfungen" praktiziert werden können, da die eidg. Prüfung ja auch am Computer durchgeführt wird. Einige Dozierende haben sich besonders für die mündliche Vorbereitung sehr für uns Zeit genommen. Bei anderen Lehrern liess vorallem der mündliche Unterricht während Corona zu wünschen übrig. Bücher waren nicht optimal.

Es gibt Stimmen, die diesen Lehrgang nicht mehr an der Wkv Wetzikon besuchen würden. Die Kursleiter waren alles in allem gut. Der Lehrgangsleiter würde sich besser stellen, wenn er seine Unterlagen, welche er als Muster abgibt ins Reine schreiben würde, anstatt einfach alles zu schwärzen was man nicht sehen darf. Dies käme professioneller daher. Aber vielleicht ändert er jetzt gewisse Dokumente oder Inhalte, da er nun mehr Zeit hat, seit er pensioniert ist. Wäre Schade, wenn die Weiterbildung nicht regelmässig durchgeführt werden kann. Denn ich schätze es, dass das Wkv Wetzikon solche kaufmännischen Weiterbildungen in der Nähe anbiete und man nicht gleich in die Stadt muss.

Ich finde ich war zum Zeitpunkt der Prüfung sehr gut vorbereitet. Falls ich Fragen hatte konnte ich jederzeit mit den Dozenten in Kontakt treten. Bis auf das Sekretariat und die z.T. überflüssig gekauften Lehrmittel bin ich sehr zufrieden mit der Schule. Bei den Lehrmitteln sollte man sich besser mit den Dozenten absprechen. Einige Dozenten benützen keine der gekauften Bücher im Unterricht, finde ich sehr schade und rausgeschmissenes Geld. Die selbst geschriebenen Skripts sind sehr gut und reichen aus um den Stoff zu lernen. Da könnte man evtl. das Fachbuch als Empfehlung aufführen jedoch nicht als notwendig. So kann jeder selber entscheiden ob er es braucht.
