What are the main disadvantages of PR specialist training?
After training as a PR specialist, you will be able to work as a specialist in the field of institutional communication. You will be involved in the conception, planning and implementation of PR media and PR measures, the organization of events and the coordination of media relations.
Possible disadvantages of the PR specialist training are:
- As the PR specialist training usually takes place over a period of about one year, it requires good time management alongside the job.
- If you want to work in communications/PR, you need organizational talent and service awareness in addition to communication skills. Not all of these skills can be acquired during training.
- The Federal Diploma of Higher Education is not recognized abroad. Anyone wishing to work abroad must therefore request official proof of this professional qualification from the State Secretariat for Education, Research, and Innovation SERI in order to prove their eligibility.
- The examination pressure for the annual federal final examinations is high, but is taken into account in the PR specialist training. However, there are preliminary mock examinations and learning checks.
- The workload can be very high at times, especially in agencies or larger companies, e.g. in the context of events or campaigns.
PR specialists work in the communications departments of companies, institutions, non-profit organizations, public authorities or PR agencies. Well-trained PR specialists are in demand on the market, because regardless of industry and company size, it is always about dialog with people.
