What are the disadvantages of product manager training?

After completing the Product Manager training course, you will be able to manage one or more of a company's products and contribute to their market success. During the planning and marketing of a product, you will stand between product development and the customer, for example by reporting the customer's needs back to the development department.

The main disadvantages of product manager training are:

  1. Not all product manager training courses are regulated by the state. In addition to the usual school-based diplomas or certificates, there are also CAS or Bachelor's degree courses. This should be taken into account when choosing a training course.
  2. At certificate level, the course content and admission requirements are generally not regulated and can be determined autonomously by the schools. When choosing a course, make sure that it supports your professional goals.
  3. Working in product management requires good knowledge of business administration, finance, accounting and law as well as leadership and social skills. Organizational talent, communication skills and negotiation skills are also important. Not all of these skills can be acquired through product manager training.
  4. Accompanying and taking responsibility for a product from development through production to sales requires a high degree of planning and coordination, strategic thinking, a high level of resilience and a good tolerance for frustration. These sometimes dry topics such as market analysis, marketing strategy, identifying market potential, budgeting and controlling are of course already dealt with and deepened during the training.

Graduates of the Product Manager course are able to work in product management within the company and take responsibility for product support.
