What are the main disadvantages of social and healthcare training?

In a social and healthcare training course, you will acquire the necessary knowledge for a team management function, divisional management function or institutional management function, including an understanding of leadership, goal-oriented leadership, management tasks, team organization, team development, personnel development, financial management and strategic management.

The main disadvantages of social and healthcare training are:

  1. Completing social and healthcare training does not always lead to a federally recognized qualification. However, the "Division Manager in Social and Sociomedical Institutions" course leads to an industry certificate that is recognized in the sector. The Federal Professional Examination and Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE), on the other hand, lead to federally recognized qualifications and the entire training concept builds on each other with individual modules. The module qualifications are valid for five years.
  2. Management tasks in the social and healthcare sector require a high degree of responsibility, empathy, self-reflection, strong communication skills and resilience. In addition, this development leads away from grassroots work - i.e. working with people. Strategic and operational issues such as personnel recruitment, work and deployment plans as well as meeting management and moderation will take center stage in the future. This must be deliberate.
  3. The social and healthcare training is part-time. This means a certain amount of self-study in addition to classes. This can push you to your limits in an already stressful working day.
  4. The training costs are only subsidized by the federal government for participation in a federal examination - i.e. not for the industry certificate if you do not continue afterwards. Support from the employer is possible.

After completing the social and healthcare training, it is possible to be employed in social or socio-educational institutions or in the healthcare sector as a team leader, division manager or institution manager. The higher the management level, the greater the proportion of leadership, administrative and management tasks.
